Bust of Abai Kunanbaiuly is erected in Park of Poets in Uzbekistan
The Park of Poets is a place where people can immerse themselves into the wonderful world of the art of words. This is not only because those people who show interest in poetry are surrounded by sculptures and memorials of the genius poets in this park, but also because the visitors can find and read the famous quotes and excerpts from the works of the legendary authors. The park is located in the center of the Moynaq District. In addition to the bust of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbaiuly, monuments to the Uzbek philosopher and poet Alisher Navoi, the Karakalpak poet Berdakh, as well as the father of the Turkmen literature and philosopher Makhtumkuli and the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin were also erected in the park.
‘The Park of Poets will help expand the spiritual and cultural knowledge of young people, as well as increase their interest in the life and work of famous poets of the neighboring nations," the Uzbek media noted.
Another monument to Abai Kunanbaiuly in Uzbekistan was erected in the Uzbek capital Tashkent. The nine-meter long sculpture of the great Kazakh poet and philosopher was opened in 2013 with the participation of First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and First President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov. The street in the Shaykhontokhur district of Tashkent, where the monument is located, is also named after Abai.
