Coronavirus situation in Central Asia is becoming worse
The novel coronavirus outbreak that hit the whole planet is fast spreading in Central Asia. Thus, the number of COVID-19 cases in Uzbekistan sharply increased. According to the Uzbek Health Ministry, the country recorded a total of 1,302 coronavirus cases. This week the country reported the highest increase of the new cases in 24 hours – 167. 107 patients recovered from coronavirus in Uzbekistan, 4 died. According to the country’s Ministry of Finance, the Uzbek government allocated US$74.6 million to the fight against COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan has now over 466 coronavirus cases. 91 patients recovered, five died. The country is now calling up doctors for military service in order to contain the spread of COVID-19, said Kyrgyz Health Minister Sabirzhan Abdikarimov.
To date, both Tajikistan and Turkmenistan haven’t reported cases of coronavirus infection.
