The ancient city in Tajikistan, Istaravshan serves as a museum of living crafts. Local craftsmen are engaged in the revival and preservation of traditional crafts that originated in ancient times. About 150 types of crafts are being developed in the city. The crafts include gold embroidery, carpet weaving, pottery, woodcarving, art painting and jewellery. The knowledge is shared by the craftsmen, which includes engravers, cutters and blacksmiths, from generations. The young generation is interested to learn the details of the crafts.
