Review on Central Asia

Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are going to apply for the candidacy of non-permanent members of the UN Security Council. According to the press service of the regional anti-terrorist structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the statement was made at the summit of the SCO leaders held in China. The meeting participants highlighted their full support to efforts of the United Nations in ensuring international peace and security, as well as Kazakhstan’s initiative on a code of conduct for achieving a terrorism-free world.


Public service experts of Estonia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan have created an Alliance of Practitioners on e-Government development in Astana. Activities of the alliance are aimed at establishing cooperation and sharing experiences between specialists of the participating countries of the Astana Hub in the civil service. In 2016, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan created the Alliance for provision of public services, which resulted in an introduction of a single-window system in these three countries.


According to the press service report of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kyrgyzstan, the Silk Road International Tourism University will be opened in Samarkand. The university will have programs of bachelor’s and master's degrees. Highly qualified specialists will receive education on innovative programs. People from the SCO member states are welcomed to apply to study at the university.
