Astana hosted MINEX, ninth Central Asian Mining and Exploration Forum
Astana hosted MINEX, ninth Central Asian Mining and Exploration Forum. Specialists from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan discussed challenges in subsoil use. They also shared ideas about the prospects of attracting investments and introduction of innovative technologies in the mining industry. For example, this system allows determining what is under the ground. One of the programs replaces several stages of geological prospecting. Specialists highlight the high accuracy of the new system.
ALEKSEY BRODOVOI, SPOKESPERSON, MINING EQUIPMENT SUPPLIER:
- The equipment saves time and money. Right after conducting geophysical studies, it interprets processing of these materials. We might decide to consider the areas of interest directly for drilling.
In addition, software can improve the mining process. The dispatch control system of the mining equipment allows monitoring the indicators and planning the drilling. According to the forum participants, the future of the industry undoubtedly lies in digital technologies.
DASTANBEK YESDAULET, SPOKESPERSON, IT COMPANY:
- Automation is already progressing. For full extraction of minerals, we need to monitor the entire system in real-time.
Today, there are more than 650 large and small enterprises in Kazakhstan’s mining industry. The new code on subsoil use will enter into force soon. The experts say that innovations will be introduced based on the best world practices. Bureaucracy will be reduced in relation to obtaining permission for geological prospecting.
TIMUR TOKTABAYEV, KAZAKH VICE MINISTER FOR INVESTMENTS AND DEVELOPMENT:
- We have made big plans in explaining the legislative changes. 122 subordinate legal acts will be enacted as part of the new code. In May, the legal acts will be fully developed and then explained.
Since 2010, the MINEX forum for Central Asia has become a leading platform in the mining industry, where experts can discuss the topics of the subsoil use. This is an important contribution to creating an atmosphere of business trust and confidence in investment prospects of the region’s mining industry. The meeting showed that the nearest vector of development is digital transformation.
