Senate ratifies amendments to customs duties within EAEU territory

Amendments were made to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The corresponding bill was passed today in the Senate, the Upper House of the Kazakh Parliament. Kazakh Minister of National Economy Ruslan Dalenov said that the protocol was developed in Yerevan last year. The document provides for the consolidation of new rules for the distribution of import customs duties. The amounts have already been determined for five EAEU member states. According to the bill,  the customs duty rate for Kazakhstan will be about seven percent.

“The Eurasian Economic Union is primarily aimed at economic development, increasing trade turnover and strengthening investment cooperation. We hope that the adopted law will contribute to the implementation of the mentioned tasks by imposing new customs duties,” said Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Senate.

Compliance with the provisions of the protocol is verified annually by the authorized bodies of the EAEU member states.
