EAEU extends tax-free import of goods to fight COVID-19
The Eurasian Economic Union countries plan to work together to fight the second wave of coronavirus. The governments of the union’s countries are working out effective measures to jointly prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission extended the period of duty-free import of some goods to fight the deadly virus. Rubber gloves, goggles, respirators as well as some components [and materials] for the production of medicines and disinfectants will be tax-free until March 31, 2021.
Test-kits, disinfectants, bandages, cotton wool, gauze, masks and shoe covers were excluded from the list. EEC Trade Minister Andrey Slepnev noted that local production for these categories of goods is fully established, and there is no longer a need for their import.
