Over 1.6 million of Kazakh citizens receive loan deferral
More than 1.6 million of Kazakh citizens received loan deferral of over 237 billion tenge (US$547 million) during the state of emergency, announced Kazakh Agency on regulation and development of the financial market.
“As of April 28, second-tier banks and other lending institutions received 1,844,599 requests for payment suspension on loans and microcredits. 1,831,489 individuals out of them filed applications for deferral of bank loan payments, and 13,110 small and medium-sized enterprises applied for loan deferral to lending institutions during the state of emergency,” said the statement.
Nearly 12,000 SME also received deferrals. The remaining applications are pending. The decisions on them will be taken within ten working days.
According to the data, to date, nearly 5.3 million citizens and about 26,200 SME are in arrears to second-tier banks.
