EAEU Prepares to Reduce Import Customs Duties on Electric Cars
The European Union will reduce customs duties on electric cars by the end of 2020. This is also will be applied to goods that are transported through customs border by individuals.
Experts opined that such a measure will contribute to the formation of electric cars market as well as the development of its production and charging infrastructure in the Eurasian Economic Union. A zero rate of import customs duty was applied to electric cars four years ago. At the same time, the volume of sales in the EU member countries showed that the use of the cars for less than one year had prevented the successful achievement of the planned results. The rule did not apply to individuals at that time.
