Timber Processing Cluster to Be Established in North Kazakhstan

A commercial environmentally-friendly timber processing cluster will be established in North Kazakhstan region in 2020.

Entrepreneur, Sermukhamet Akhmutdinov said the project will be implemented in several phases and it will involve the purchase of an innovative machine that can be used to saw logs within minutes.

He said the machine can saw up to 140 cubic meters of wood per shift and it can help timber processing facilities to save on operational cost by reducing the number of staff.

The machine is purchased by Akhmutdinov for 338 million Tenge. He received a grant by the Science Fund after winning a project aimed at establishing a timber cluster in North Kazakhstan.

“We will also build charcoal plant. We laid the foundation and built the framed structure. We are planning to install equipment at the plant in May. I think that the plant will produce the first charcoal in June,” Akhmutdinov said.

With the opening of the charcoal manufacturing plant, the entrepreneur is set to supply the output to both domestic and foreign markets.
