Kazakh startups are recognized as the best in a competition of business ideas in Seoul
Kazakh startups are recognized as the best in a competition of business ideas in Seoul. The startups were selected from 70 projects submitted by participants from five Central Asian countries. Among the winner is Dmitriy Tyo, a cardiologist from Petropavlosk. The Kazakhstani developer had created a service which eases the patients to look for clinics, consult doctors and purchase medicine directly from manufacturers.
With the help of web designers and developers, he created a website and a mobile application that allows a person to take action without leaving the house. The best clinics in Kazakhstan and South Korea will be available online to users.
DMITRIY TYO, DOCTOR, KAZAKH STARTUP FOUNDER:
- Fortunately, we have a lot of neighbouring countries which are also interested in our highly developed medicine. For example, we are in the top 10 countries for cardiac surgery. The heart transplant, interventional and vascular surgery are also highly developed in Kazakhstan.
Among the winners is South Korean Yun Young Chan. He and a large Korean corporation have developed a GPS service project. The GPS tracks locations of domestic animals, specifically sheep, cows and horses. The idea is very helpful to Kazakh farmers. The project has been tested for two years in the Kegen village in the Almaty region. The battery collars last for one week. Developers are working with Yun Young Chan to create solar-powered collars. They also plan to continue cooperation with Kazakh farmers.
YUN YOUNG CHAN, SOUTH KOREAN STARTUP FOUNDER:
- We plan to rent the collars and farmers would pay back with their animals instead of money. We plan to export it because the animal will have a story; where it has lived and what kind of grass it has eaten. The animal will have a certificate and can be exported, for example to Korea or Europe. This is our long-term business plan.
The startup of Yun Young Chan will help promote the brand of Kazakhstan's environmentally friendly meat products abroad. The project will be implemented in Almaty and Kyzylorda regions.
