Kazakh government is actively developing the meat cluster

The Kazakh government is actively developing the meat cluster. The Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture together with the Meat Union of Kazakhstan are developing the livestock industry development program. Farmers can get preferential loans, purchase land on favorable terms and sell their products to manufacturers in the next few years. The government also works on attracting large foreign investors to Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex. Kazakh meat producers in cooperation with foreign businesses have started the construction of the largest meat-processing cluster in Ili district of Almaty region. The project cost exceeds 20 billion tenge of foreign investments. According to experts, this project is unique because of the complete waste-free meat production cycle.

- Meat producers can have a significant added value and get additional income. They can distribute the income among the production units. As a result, producers will have large, well-established market which is located here. We have developed the livestock industry development program for 10 years until 2027, which is aimed at the development of the industry.

Construction of the modern meat production complex will take several years. Technical facilities, feeding lots and meat processing lines will be built at the 60 hectares construction sit. A logistics hub with refrigerators will also be constructed. While construction is underway, agrarians will work with large and medium-sized farms that will subsequently supply raw materials to the plant.

- Farmers take the central place in this system. They have the opportunity to boost their production due to the guaranteed sale. If a farmer had 30 cows, he can increase the herd to 100 or 200 cows, because he knows that he will sell his products at a good price.

The meat cluster in Almaty region will be exported. According to experts, Kazakhstan has real opportunity to enter the world’s top-5 meat suppliers in the nearest future.
