Kazakhstan’s Automotive industry grows
Kazakhstan’s automotive industry demonstrates significant growth. Its contribution to GDP in 2017 made up 39%. According to the Vice-President of the Association of Kazakhstan’s Automotive Business, there is a growth in domestic production volumes and sales. Every third car sold in Kazakhstan is domestically manufactured. In general, Kazakhstan’s automotive plants manufactured over nineteen thousand units which three times exceeds the results of 2016.
ANAR MAKASHEVA, VICE PRESIDENT, KAZAKHSTAN’S AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS ASSOCIATION:
- Currently, we can see growth of Kazakhstan’s export potential. In particular, export grew four times in 2017 which is a very good result for Kazakhstan’s market. In general, such companies as Hyundai Trans Auto and Allur Group are the major exporters. We are now observing a stable demand on Kazakhstan’s consumer market.
A new automobile manufacturing line is gaining momentum in Kazakhstan. By the end of 2018, Kostanay’s automotive plant will manufacture its first electric cars of the latest generation. The joint Kazakh-Chinese project will be a breakthrough and will make domestically manufactured cars more competitive and export-oriented.
SERGEI MOGILATOV, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, AUTOMOTIVE PLANT:
- Our plant’s capacity allows manufacturing up to 5,000 cars a year but we understand that in the first year we will not have this amount. That’s why we announced that we will manufacture 500 cars. The Chinese partner conducted significant work on improvement of batteries which is the most important part of the car. The latest cars IS7 have this advanced model that’s why we chose it for manufacturing at the plant in Kostanay.
The manufacturers have developed a number of preferences for customers to enhance attractiveness of the electric cars. The proposal is presented to the Government for consideration.
