Kazakh and Chinese governments are planning to further strengthen cooperation

Kazakh and Chinese governments are planning to further strengthen cooperation. “Nurly Zhol” and One Belt, One Road programs allow establishing mutually beneficial ways of interacting in various sectors of economy. The cooperation benefits not only the two countries, but the entire region. There is a growth in freight traffic going through Kazakhstan to Europe. This has resulted in a growing trade turnover and export. According to international experts, the Chinese initiative is profitable to all the member countries. 66 countries consider joining the initiative. This was discussed during a meeting “Kazakhstan and China in the New Cooperation Era” held in Beijing. Participants also discussed President Nursultan Nazarbayev’s five social initiatives.

 - I want to specifically mention President Nazarbayev’s address to the nation and his five social initiatives. The “Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era” covers similar tasks. The programs are aimed at improvement of the people’s wellbeing.

As part of China’s One Belt, One Road program, scientists are working on the establishment of the “International Silk Road Science Academy.” Nursultan Nazarbayev put forward this initiative in May last year at the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation held in Beijing. Its development will involve scientists from Kazakhstan, China, Russia and thirty other countries. The parties are also planning to hold a “Global Silk Road” forum in Astana early July. It will bring together the city mayors of the Silk Road countries. The event will be held to mark the five-year anniversary of the One Belt, One Road initiative and the 20th anniversary of Astana.

 - An international fund should be established to implement these projects. An International Academy can be established if the countries along the Silk Road join efforts.
