Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan: Formation of textile cluster

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan intend to expand cooperation in the textile industry. The countries plan to create a joint cluster for cotton processing. The work on the project has already begun. Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will control the whole process: from landing and processing of cotton to manufacturing finished products.

 - We are engaged in knitted fabric production and export to the Commonwealth of Independent States. We buy yarn and produce finished products. We knit, paint and sew.

As experts say, the project will be useful for both countries. Farmers will be able to exchange their experience. Since raw materials are produced in the country, the cost of goods will be lower. All this together will give a great impetus to the development of the textile industry.

- The textile industry is one of the important business areas of the country. A lot of experience has been accumulated in the production of textile products. It is very important, starting from planting of cotton, then processing and giving it the export potential.

As part of the project, the new joint ventures will be built. This will become the basis for development of the textile industry in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. This will strengthen the economic component of the bilateral cooperation. In addition, work on implementing an investment project to increase the volume of exports and imports between the countries is underway. This was facilitated by the agreement signed during the meeting of the leaders of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

 - 180 enterprises are now operating in the Andijan region thanks to the support of foreign investors. These projects are implemented with the help of investors from China, South Korea, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Taking into account the potential of the region, we invite investors. To date, there is an agreement on implementation of the investment project with Kazakhstan worth US$18 million.

Kazakhstan exports transformers and other industrial goods. In the future, this list will be replenished by the products of the pharmaceutical and cotton-textile industries. Experts believe that, as a result of the upcoming forum on interregional cooperation, investment opportunities between the two countries will expand significantly.
