Kazakhstan and Greece are building up trade and economic cooperation

Kazakhstan and Greece are building up trade and economic cooperation. Last year the trade turnover between the states increased by 10% and reached US$980 million. This was announced during the Kazakh-Greek business forum in Astana with the participation of more than 200 businessmen of the two countries. Kazakhstan showed its interest in attracting the Greek investors and technologies in agriculture. According to experts, the countries have all the conditions for mutually beneficial cooperation. Kazakhstan has favorable natural and climatic environment for growing the entire agriculture products and Greece has an experience and technologies in this area. Kazakhstan invited the Greek companies to join a process of digitalization of domestic industrial enterprises.


 - Today we are implementing a number of projects. One of them is the construction of shoe factories in the Kapchagai city, the Akmola region and in the Mangystau region. A number of projects are being implemented. I think a further expansion of joint projects is expected in the near future.


 - We have really a complementarity both in our economies and in our political and economic strategy. Kazakhstan, we have already heard, is in the heart of Eurasia. Greece is a bridge between Asia and Europe. We are a member of European Union but we work together also with the Eurasian Economic Union. As Kazakhstan, we make part of the One Belt, One Road initiative.

As part of the forum, business meetings of entrepreneurs of the two countries were held in logistics, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, construction industry, IT, pharmaceuticals and cosmetology.

Following the forum, the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV) and the Chamber of Commerce of Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation that will give an impetus to the further development of economic ties.
