Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia
The parliamentary friendship group between Kazakhstan and Georgia held a meeting with Kazakhstan’s diplomats in Tbilisi. They discussed the importance of strategic and trade-economic cooperation as well as prospects for strengthening bilateral relations.
KAKHABER OKRIASHVILI, HEAD, KAZAKHSTAN AND GEORGIA PARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP:
- I’m in charge of the Georgia and Kazakhstan parliamentary friendship group. There is a similar group of friendship in the Kazakh parliament. Today we had an introductory meeting where members of our group got acquainted with the Kazakh ambassador. We talked about the previous cooperation of our countries, talked about the future and our visit to Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the Kazakh Ambassador to Georgia Yermukhamet Yertisbayev told the members of Georgian Parliament about the Modernization of Public Consciousness program. He also highlighted the importance of the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad for development of the two countries. In addition, the diplomat highlighted the success of economic relations between the states.
YERMUKHAMET YERTISBAYEV, KAZAKH AMBASSADOR TO GEORGIA :
- Approximately 18 members of the Georgian parliament take part in the Kazakh-Georgian friendship society and actively contribute to strengthening bilateral relations. I introduced them with the Modernization of Public Consciousness program, told about the main stages of the ambassadorial work and what has been accomplished during the 4.5 years.
Kazakhstan is Georgia’s important economic and strategic partner. Since the beginning of the year the total trade turnover between the two countries amounted to US$49,5 million. Tbilisi hosts a Georgian-Kazakh business forum annually, where experts and entrepreneurs discuss prospects for further cooperation. During one meeting, the businessmen agreed that Kazakhstan exports the ice cream, biodegradable packages and electric locomotives to Georgia.
