Zhetygen, an ancient multi-stringed plucked musical instrument. It resembles a harp or a lying harp in shape. Zhetygen has a soft, melodious sound. The Kazakh name is Zhetygen, probably comes from two words: zhety (seven) and agan. They can be deciphered as “seven songs” or “seven singing strings”.
